Sierra Club Cat Island Hike

Details
Lee Patterson, who is on the Baton Rouge Group Executive Committee, is leading this hike. It's less than a mile, but there are other trails that we can also hike.
Participants must RSVP on the Sierra Club's Campfire Event page. You will also find more information by going to:

The highlight of the hike is the National Champion Bald Cypress, estimated to be about 1500 years old. At a height of 96 feet, a diameter of 17 feet, and a circumference of 56 feet, it is truly a sight to behold. Although the trail to the tree is 4.6 miles from the main gate, the trail is flat & a .75 mile round-trip that winds through a bottomland hardwood forest in a no hunting area.
