Focus on Legislative Advocacy - Make Democracy Great Again

Please join the New Orleans Group of the Sierra Club on Sunday, Nov 9 at 6:30pm at Community Church Unitarian (6690 Fleur De Lis Dr, New Orleans in Lakeview) to learn about how to conduct effective advocacy efforts for issues of importance to all of us.

Our speaker will be Julie Schwam Harris, a former New Orleans City government employee, adviser to numerous political campaigns, and an advocate on concerns related to women and families predominantly at the state Legislature. The issues she has addressed include access to health care, economic security policies regarding equal pay for women, raising the minimum wage, affordable quality child care, paid sick and family leave and sexual harassment; comprehensive sex education and solutions to violence against women. Gov John Bel Edwards appointed her to the Louisiana Women’s Policy and Research Commission in 2016.
