The Sound of a City
New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park visitor center is at 419 Decatur St, New Orleans, LA 70130. The park is devoted to sharing the origins of jazz and its development via performances. The Park is proud to partner with Talkin Jazz with Fred Kasten . The guest performer on Thurs Aug 27 will be Mark Braud, a veteran trumpeter, best known for his association with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. The performance starts at 3pm, and is free, and lasts a little over an hour, but the music venue only seats 40 people.
The History of a City
The Visitor center also has exhibits and a film which shares the history and traditions of the lower Mississippi River delta and of New Orleans, home to one of America's most distinctive cultural mixes and rich in food, music, architecture, and more. Exhibits highlight south Louisiana culture, nature, history, and (of course) food.
Bonus
As an extra bonus, the Visitor Center courtyard has over 80 NATIVE plants, with most identified!
Tentative schedule: meet at 2PM to tour the Visitor’s Center. 2:30 visit the Courtyard with Native plants. 2:45 get in line for 3pm music show. Door to music venue opens at 2:55.
