Day Hike: Appalachian Trail - Shippensburg to Caledonia State Park, PA

10.5-mile, moderate hike on forest trail. Please register and e-sign the required liability waiver form at www.sierraclub.org/west-virginia/events. Click the event on the calendar date to be taken to the form. Discover a beautiful section of the AT through mixed forest and interesting rock formations. We will have some nice views. Most of the hike will be fairly level atop a plateau, but we will end with a steep descent into Caledonia State Park. From our meeting place, we will carpool to the hike’s start, so reservations are required, and we ask you notify us if you need to cancel. The hike is suitable for those able to maintain a moderate pace for several hours on rugged terrain. There is no charge for the hike, though donations are welcome.
Bring plenty of water, a bagged lunch, and perhaps a snack. Wear layers for variable temperatures, and hiking poles or a walking stick may be helpful. We will carry on in light rain but cancel in a storm.
