Richmond: Buttermilk Trail / North Bank 7 Mile Loop Hike

If you're looking for something to do Thanksgiving Weekend, and you're up for an urban hiking challenge, join us as we hike both banks of the James River for this 7 mile circuit.

Our hike begins at the Reedy Creek Trail Parking Lot. We'll head west on the Buttermilk Trail to the Nickel Bridge where we will make our first crossing of the James River. Once we're on the North side of the river, we'll get on the North Bank Trail, passing by Maymont Park, Texas Beach, and Hollywood Cemetery. At the Lee Bridge, we'll use the pedestrian bridge to get to Belle Isle, and make our way back to the Buttermilk Trail.

Sierra Club requires all participants under the age of 18 to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Well mannered dogs are allows but must remain on leash during the hike.

All participants must sign a Sierra Club waiver.

Bring: Snacks, water, closed toed shoes (trail shoes or hiking boots recommended), and layered clothing.
