Please take action to support Los Angeles Parks! At two meetings, the Los Angeles City Council will decide which Charter Reforms to put on the ballot for November. A key proposal, supported by the Sierra Club and many other organizations, would double the percentage of property taxes that allocated to the City's parks (from .035% to .065%, so still less than 1%). This isn't a new tax, just a re-allocation of existing funds.

For Griffith Park, that means rangers, open space and native plant specialists, clean and open restrooms, maintained grounds, and a real dent in the deferred maintenance backlog.

Here are ways to support this proposal:

  • Friday, June 12, 1 PM -- City Hall: The Rules Committee votes on whether to advance doubling parks funding to the full Council. We need a strong turnout — please try to get there by noon, wear green, and share why you support doubling parks funding!
  • TBA Full City Council -- Depending on Rules Committee action, the full City Council votes on whether to place this and other charter reforms on the November ballot.
  • Angelenos — November 2026 -- if Council acts, voters decide.

You can also contact your Councilmember and amplify the message on social media.
