Sierra Club is a national organization dedicated to explore, enjoy and protect the planet. This group is for anyone looking for outdoor activities, environmental programs and education and ways to make our community greener! Virtually all are FREE and open to everyone - you do not need to be a Sierra Club member to participate.
The Sierra Club groups of the Greater Tampa Bay Florida area includes the Suncoast Sierra Club group (serving Pinellas and Western Pasco & Western Hernando Counties) and the Tampa Bay Sierra Club (serving Hillsborough and Eastern Pasco & Eastern Hernando Counties) as well as our Tampa Bay ICO, Inspiring Connections Outdoors via Youth Outings for Pinellas and Hillsborough. With several thousand members, our local groups organize and participates in outdoor adventures, environmental education and public awareness, youth outings, environmental activism and lobbying of our local and state government for pro-environmental legislation.

Join us for an educational seminar hosted by UF/IFAS Extension Florida Sea Grant Pasco County, focused on the Durney Key Restoration Project. This project, led by the Energy and Marine Center, includes a detailed survey of invasive plant species, an assessment of the health and extent of existing oyster beds, ongoing monitoring of water quality, litter removal, and the identification and replacement of native plant populations. The goal of the project relates to Increasing oyster habitats, limiting erosion, replacing invasive plants with natives, increasing local ecosystem health, and creating a safe and enjoyable environment for public use. A family-friendly workshop focused on springs-friendly living and sustainable landscaping from 10am—1pm on Saturday, June 28th at the Historic Inverness Courthouse, One Courthouse Square, Inverness
Join us to learn and explore:- Practical tips for sustainable landscaping and responsible fertilizer use
- Updates on efforts to protect our local waterways
- Actions you can take to protect our springs, wildlife, and improve water quality
- Video of local springs and wildlife
Presenters will include:
- Eugene Kelly of the Florida Native Plant Society on springs health
- Tiare Fridrich of Save the Manatee Club on efforts to protect manatees
- Sierra Club Florida Chapter’s Michael McGrath on the benefits of urban turf fertilizer restrictions during the rainy season
- IFAS Florida Friendly Landscaping Program’s Claire Lewis on Florida Friendly landscaping and resources.
Kids’ activities, free coloring sheets, and refreshments provided. Hosted by Sierra Club Florida Chapter and Adventure Coast Group in cooperation with Citrus Audubon, Citrus Native Plant Society, League of Women Voters of Citrus County, Linda Wilinski Photography, and other community leaders.

Bring: Only bring what you can carry on your own. Water is recommended.
Signup Restrictions: Participation in the Parade requires walking for perhaps several miles (between the parade, getting to and back from site).
Additional Directions: The Parade route will run from Albert Whitted Park to Vinoy Park along Bayshore Drive. We will notify you of our spot in parade a day or two prior to the parade.
Carpool: Carpooling or Ride-sharing is highly recommended but must be organized on your own.
