Outing to Ellie Schiller Homosassa Wildlife State Park

Wednesday, Oct. 29, 10 am to 12 noon Ellie Schiller Homosassa Wildlife State Park outing. Join us for a guided tour of the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park with Ranger Kate Spratt. This will be a Sierra Club outing, but Citrus Native Plant Society members are invited to join. Kate will describe the parks role in the Florida Wildlife Corridor, park history, and show you the recently renovated Underwater Observatory. Your outing's leader, Robin, will also provide information on the environmental impacts of fertilizer use, the new Citrus County rainy season fertilizer ordinance that was recently adopted by the County, and upcoming Sierra Club events. The group will meet at the parks West Entrance on Fishbowl Drive parking lot (9225 W Fishbowl Dr, Homosassa, FL 34448) at 9:30 AM, and the tour will begin at 10. Plan on 1.5-2 hours on this tour. Parking is available at either the US 19 / Suncoast Blvd parking area (4150 S Suncoast Blvd, Homosassa, FL 34446), from where you can take the shuttle to the entrance to the park at Fishbowl Drive, or you can park in the smaller parking lot on Fishbowl.
