May Program Meeting

Details

The May program meeting of the Sierra Club Great Basin Group will be on Thursday, May 8, at UNR’s Innevation Center In Reno. The topic:

"What’s the Big Deal about Microplastic?"
presented by Den Fusso.

The doors will open at 6:30 for socializing, and the hour-long program will begin at 7 PM. The Innevation Center is located at 450 Sinclair St, Reno, NV 89501.

You have likely heard that the amount of microplastic in your brain is equal to that of a plastic spoon, and that amount has doubled from 2016-2024. What are the implications of plastic in our brains? How did it get there? Do scientists know the primary source? Come hear an overview on microplastic– but most importantly, learn about things you can do to decrease the amount of plastic in your own environment.

Den hopes participants will leave her presentation with a personal action plan and renewed hope for a healthier environment.

The photo at the top of this page is of a sculpture made from plastic washed up on beaches. It was made by Washed Ashore, which creates powerful art about plastic pollution in the ocean.
