Beat the heat by hiking high in the mountains this evening!
Hike from the Mt. Rose Trailhead to the Galena Creek Falls and return the same route. Come and explore some great views of Lake Tahoe, Washoe Lake, Tamarack Lake and a stunning cascading waterfall in the Mt. Rose Wilderness area.
We will be hiking at 9000 feet, so come prepared for temperatures in the 60's.
Moderately difficult due to the altitude., distance (5 miles) and slight 500 ft elevation gain. DL. Dogs limited.

As this is a Sierra Club event, please consider donating $1 to help support our Great Basin Group outings, programs, and to support our Scholarship program for youth outdoor events. You will be asked to sign a waiver at the trailhead.

  • Vault toilets are available at the Trailhead;
  • Wear sturdy hiking boots; consider poles if you need stability;
  • Bring plenty of water, a snack, sunscreen and bug spray;
  • Dress in layers; might be cool at dusk;
  • If you wish to carpool, meet at 4:45p at Starbucks parking area in the Galena Junction Shopping Center, 18250 Wedge Pkwy, Reno.
