Evening Conditioning Hike -- Washoe Pines

Details
Get in shape after work with an evening conditioning hike at a brisk pace.
Discover trails and learn about nature and geology around the Truckee Meadows.
This week we will visit the rare, and seldom seen Washoe Pines (Pinus washoensis), halfway up the eastern slope of Mt. Rose at 7500'.
Parking is limited at the TH, so we will carpool from the meeting place.
This hike is not for beginners: there is a stream crossing of the rushing Galena Creek, and the trail is steep and gnarly. Bring water and wear hiking boots.
4 miles. Elevation gain up to 1000 ft. Moderately difficult. ND (No Dogs).
Since this is a Sierra Club hike, we ask you to sign our liability waiver at the trailhead and donate $1 to help cover First Aid Training for all our leaders.
If you want to review the Sierra Club Sign-Up and Participant Agreement in advance, see pages 3-4 at: https://bit.ly/3zN1Jl0
