Beaver Pond Viewing and Hiking at Sebago Lake State Park

Details
Maine purchased a beautiful spot of land on Sebago Lake years ago, and it is open to the public for recreation. Beavers have made their home on a pond close to the entrance booth, and the outing will kick off with the park ranger giving us a tour around the pond, describing the beavers’ work to make this their home, and their effects on the local environment. After the tour of one to two hours, we will hike around on various wooded trails, stopping for lunch at the shore of Sebago Lake. Total walking will be about 3 miles distance and 300 feet of elevation change. Hiking poles are optional. Pack food and drinks as we will reach the campground area for lunch near the lake but away from our vehicles. A park fee of $6 per person must be paid, but Maine residents 65 and older enter free. Children age eight and above welcome, but no pets.
Dress for the weather, and only steady rain will cancel.
