Hike Bald Mountain near the Snow Bowl in Camden

Details

We are lucky indeed to have the Camden Hills smack in the middle of Midcoast Maine. Spectacular, accessible beauty, winding forested trails and stunning coastline speckled with 19th century schooners are all part of this area's advantages.

Join us on Friday, September 12th! We will meet at the trailhead at 9 am and begin the hike at 9:15.

Bald Mountain is the fifth highest mountain in the eastern seaboard at 1280 feet above sea level. Our round trip will be 2.6 miles, 680 foot vertical gain, with several fabulous views at the top.

We will meet at the trailhead parking lot for the Bald Mountain Trail, right ACROSS FROM the red farmhouse at 352 Barnestown Road.
Attendees will sign the Sierra Club waiver at the start of the hike.

DIRECTIONS:
Take Mechanic St out of Camden to Hosmer, follow to Barnestown Road. The parking area sign is small, so the red farmhouse is a better landmark.

Overall, this hike is rated moderate, so hikers must be in good physical condition. The trail is rocky and rooty in places (what else is new?).

Always bring plenty of water. Bring your hiking poles or a walking stick. Wear hiking shoes for sure. We'll take a break at the top, so pack a healthy snack.
