Hike Mt Megunticook in the Camden Hills
Details
Join us in hiking the legendary Mt Megunticook! There are several staggering views from a number of vantage points on the way to the top. The hike is rated moderate to strenuous, rocky as usual, but it's always an adventure. I will emphasize here that we will hike this one at a moderate pace, taking breaks if necessary, so you don't need to be a fast hiker to keep up.
Be sure and wear your hiking boots for this. Walking poles or a walking stick are strongly recommended. Bring a healthy snack for our break at the top, with plenty to drink.
This is a 2.6 mile round trip hike with a 950 foot elevation gain. We will park our cars at the trailhead, meeting at 8:30 am with the hike beginning at 8:45.
DIRECTIONS: Enter at the Camden State Park gatehouse off Rte 1 just north of downtown Camden at 280 Belfast Road. The ranger will direct you to the Megunticook trailhead parking a short drive away.
There is no entrance fee to the park for senior Maine residents. The fee for residents under 65 is $4.00.
A Sierra Club waiver must be signed at the trailhead at the beginning of the hike.
We're looking forward to seeing you there!
