Spring Equinox Walk in Portland, Maine
Details
We can see the ground again after a snowy winter! The spring equinox occurs on March 20 this year, and we will celebrate it with a stroll from Deering Oaks Park to the Western Promenade in Portland to watch (hopefully) the sunset at 6:54 PM. This takes us along mostly hard-surface paths with only about 100 feet of elevation change. We will walk at a moderate pace for a total distance of of just over two miles. The leader will have an equinox quiz to test your knowledge of this important annual phenomenon. Please dress for the weather and leave pets at home. Participants will be required to sign a waiver; those under 18 must have a parent or guardian.
Park in the small lot just north of the building with the address, or on the street that runs in front of it. Note that State St. is one-way going south.
