Transition Habitat Conservancy Desert Tortoise Burrow Blitz

Details
The above photo shows the hardships desert tortoises are facing. This one was preyed on by ravens. Help us to gather information that will be used to protect tortoise populations in the future.
TIME: Meet at 9am, both days, for introductions and orientation. We will train you to identify burrows and find other tortoise sign and how to collect/record data. You may participate on one or both days.
LOCATION: Meet at Lockhart, next to the Solar Facility off of Harper Lake Road to Hoffman Road. Parking will be along Hoffman Rd. Google Map link: https://goo.gl/maps/h58ZMHt5yb12
After the orientation, we will travel to various parcels in the area. Transition Habitat team members will guide participants and oversee the data collection. More eyes on the ground make for lighter work.
Come fully prepared for field days: proper clothing (wear layers in case it’s cold and a hat and sun protection if it’s hot), bring plenty of food/water, and a fanny pack or backpack to carry your water in. Be ready to spend the day driving and hiking around the beautiful Mojave Desert.
CAMPING: Some of us may camp together on Friday night, so please feel free to join us! CALL/TEXT 760 220-6141 for more info. Any donations to this Meetup site helps me pay the annual fee and are much appreciated.
