Warehouse Development in the High Desert
Details
All are welcome. Sierra Club's Mojave Group member meetings are free and open to the public.
OUR MARCH PROGRAM
Massive logistics warehouses are moving east - more and more of our open space here in the high desert is paved over, and more projects are in the works.
Join us on Wednesday, March 11th at 7PM to learn more about the warehouses in the pipeline for our communities, and how we can engage them.
We’ll explore the warehouse 'sprawl' as it moves inland—shifting from port-adjacent areas to the Inland Empire and, most recently, into the High Desert.
Sierra Club's San Gorgonio Chapter has been at the forefront of challenging projects that are especially harmful, from air quality issues to displaced housing, traffic safety and infrastructure damage.
Chapter Conservation Chair Mary Ann Ruiz will present facts and figures about this growth and what is planned right here in the Mojave Group area. Mary Ann has been active in challenging these projects for many years, including recently leading litigation against a massive 7000+ acre project in Lancaster.
Extensive information has been provided by Mike McCarthy, our Chapter Political Co-Chair and Box Springs Group Conservation Co-Chair. Mike is a Data Scientist, Professor at Pitzer College, and founder of Radical Research LLC.
The Mojave Group meets at the Sterling Inn, 17738 Francesca Rd, Victorville, CA 92395 (just off Ridgecrest Road, one block north of Bear Valley Rd).
Note: we meet in the Media Room, at the north end of the building. Easiest entry is off Lindero Street; park near the NORTH side and enter at the entrance with the overhead carport (near the covered parking area).
Light refreshments are served.
