Kayak Julington Creek from Hood Landing


Details
This is an easy paddle that puts us in at the convergence of two tributaries that flow into the larger, St John River. The two tributaries are Julington Creek and Durbin Creek. We will put in at Hood Landing and paddle approximately 2 miles along an open body of water then back into a shaded canopy of quiet tree covered water and then return.

We will meet at Hood Landing Boat Ramp - 12925 Hood Landing Road, Jacksonville. Please arrive no later than 8:30 am and be ready to launch boats by 9am.
Bring water and bug spray. A Personal Float Device (PFD) level 3 or 5 and your own kayak. You must wear your PFD.
There are no restrooms at the launch site.
Cancellation Policy: Event will be held rain or shine but may be cancelled if weather threatens safety such as in the case of lightning or high winds in the forecast. Also, if the heat index is forecast to be over 103, then the outing will be cancelled.
Participants are advised to check Meetup for current status before traveling to the event. Events may need to be cancelled at short notice.
* Help the environment by following these tips: Bring your water in a reusable container instead of a single-use plastic bottle. Use sunscreen free oxybenzone and oxtinoxate. These chemicals are extremely harmful to coral reefs, as well as being hormone disruptors in humans.
