Kayak Big Pottsburg Creek

This is an easy paddle that starts at the city of Jacksonville's Pottsburg Creek on Beach Blvd. It's an urban paddle! And, it's suitable for beginners. For those without a kayak, there is even a water sports shop next door to the launch site. We will see some wildlife and float slowly down then turn back to the launch site.

We will meet at the Pottsburg Creek Boat Ramp at 8505 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL. Please arrive no later than 9 am and be ready to launch boats by 9:30 am.

Bring a Personal Float Device (PFD) level 3 or 5 and a kayak. PFD's must worn while paddling. Also bring a whistle. These are required to launch.
Also bring water, sun spray and insect repellent.

There are no restrooms at the launch site.

Cancellation Policy: Event will be held rain or shine but may be cancelled if weather threatens safety such as in the case of lightning or high winds in the forecast. Also, if the heat index is forecast to be over 103, then the outing will be cancelled.
Participants are advised to check Meetup for current status before traveling to the event. Events may need to be cancelled at short notice.
* Help the environment by following these tips: Bring your water in a reusable container instead of a single-use plastic bottle. Use sunscreen free oxybenzone and oxtinoxate. These chemicals are extremely harmful to coral reefs, as well as being hormone disruptors in humans.
