Kayak Pellicer Creek to Princess Place Preserve
Details
Pellicer Creek is a tidal marsh in a remote natural setting.
We will launch from the Faver Dykes Boat Ramp, paddle east under the covered bridge, continue paddling past the Princess Place Preserve and get out of our kayaks for lunch at a picnic table beside the water. After lunch, we will paddle west about an hour and half back to the Faver Dykes Boat Ramp where we started.
You must register and sign the Sierra Club Waiver at:

This is a paddle for experienced intermediate kayakers who are comfortable paddling at a moderate rate of 2.5 to 3 mph for a total of about 4 hours with a break for lunch.
Please do not sign up for this paddle if you have an inflatable kayak, a folding kayak, a recreational kayak or a stand up paddleboard that does not have water tight, sealed compartments, because they can sink.
It will be more fun and safer if we paddle as a group. Please paddle within about 10 boat lengths of the other kayakers.
Please arrive about 9:30 am so we can launch about 10 am.
DIRECTIONS: It is about 3 miles from where you turn onto Faver Dykes Road to the Faver Dykes Boat Ramp. It is the second boat ramp on Faver Dykes Road. When you see the first sign for a kayak launch, do not turn off yet. Continue past the first sign until you arrive at Faver Dykes Boat Ramp.
There is a state park entrance fee of $5 per car which is payable in cash or using a QR code. The fee is waived if you have an annual Florida State Park Pass and display it on your dashboard.
There are restrooms at the Faver Dykes Boat Ramp.
Please bring a kayak, PFD, whistle, water, sunscreen and lunch or a snack.
The Sierra Club wants you to be safe when paddling and requires that you wear a Type 3 or a Type 5 PFD which goes all the way around your chest at all times while you are paddling during a Sierra Club Meetup event. A PFD that is only a belt or a vest is not a Type 3 or a Type 5 PFD.
Total time on land and water: 4.5 - 5 hours
Total paddling distance: 8 - 10 miles
Tides: High 11:20 am; Low 6:15 pm
Kayaking level: experienced intermediate
If your plans change and you will not be going, please change your status from "going" to "not going" on the Meetup page for this event so we have correct information regarding who will be going to this event.
Please check this website in the afternoon or the evening the day before the paddle to see if there is a postponement due to a bad weather forecast. If a postponement is not posted by noon the day before the paddle, we will paddle the next day at the scheduled time for the paddle
