THIS IS FOR FIRST-TIMERS (and LOOONG-TIME ABSENTEES (like 5 years) ONLY!!

I remember attending my first Sierra Club outing. I was nervous, didn't know what to expect, worried that the group was clique-ish, unwelcoming, or hiked too fast/slow, didn't know anybody, didn't know how to act, etc. etc.
So, let's have a hike ONLY FOR:

  • You who have just joined up
  • You reluctant first-timers (like I was)
  • You looong-time absentees - like 5 years (c'mon back!)

There's nothing to worry about; we're all new-ish!
You are all out there lurking. It's time to join us!

HEY! If you aren't a first-timer or 5 year-ish absentee, I'll gently kick you off the RSVP list.

You Must register and sign the waiver online. The link is:

Join us on a 4 mile hike in the beautiful Julington-Durbin Preserve. The Preserve is on a peninsula between Julington and Durbin Creeks and contains sandhill, flatwood, and floodplain swamp and marshes. Trail is flat and dry.

After the hike, we can go to lunch at nearby Bono's:

Cancellation Policy: Event may be cancelled in case of rain or if weather threatens safety. Check Meetup for current status before traveling to the event. Events may need to be cancelled at short notice.

Help the environment by following these tips:
- Bring your water in a reusable container instead of a single-use plastic bottle
- Use sunscreen free of oxybenzone and octinoxate. These chemicals are extremely harmful to coral reefs, as well as being hormone disruptors in humans.

Sierra Club maintains a safe space agreement between participants, leaders, volunteers, and staff. They want to support everyone in exploring, enjoying, and protecting our natural environment, and hateful and dangerous behavior will not be tolerated. We don’t want to deny participation in these outdoor programs, and we will always say no to racism, sexism, ageism, homophobia, impairment, and disruption. We request that all participants cooperate with the outing leader’s directions to ensure a safe and enjoyable outing for everyone.
