Active/Former Military Members ONLY - Bulow Plantation Ruins and Hike
Details
This is a Sierra Club Military Outdoors event - a joint Sierra Club Northeast Florida and YMCA outing - FOR ACTIVE AND FORMER MILITARY AND THEIR FAMILIES ONLY.
Join us in visiting the Bulow Sugar Plantation Ruins and a three mile hike along the Bulow Woods Hiking Trail. This will lead us into a deep shaded forest where live oak and other hardwood trees have grown undisturbed for centuries. The one mile round-trip to the ruins is surfaced with gravel, sidewalks and grass. The ruins are self guided and we’ll have time to read the informational plaques on the production of sugar and daily life on the plantation.
We will then continue and hike 3 miles of the trail. We will cross several boardwalks, some of which have an incline and are slippery. There are many tripping hazards and a knee high log to climb over.
After the hike, we will have a sandwich and chips lunch at the picnic tables. We will provide the food.
Register and sign the liability waiver on line to save time at the trailhead.
