The Salmon are Back!
Even the planners didn't expect that salmon would be back in the Klamath River just a few weeks after dam removal!
After more than 20 years of Tribal-led advocacy with the support of a broad coalition of conservation and commercial fisheries organizations, four dams along the Klamath River were finally removed in 2024. This effort is the largest river restoration and dam removal project in US history.
A couple of short films will provide an overview of the process.
Our guest speaker, Yurok Tribal Member Charles Adkins, grew up along the Klamath River and saw the effort to save the river unfold first hand. He'll share his experiences working for a healthy Klamath River - critical for clean water, food sovereignty, and justice.
Next, we'll talk about how YOU can help protect Northwest rivers.
Finally, a joyful film about young indigenous kayakers accomplishing the first descent of the free-flowing Klamath! See a preview here.
