Join us for a private guided tour with Ruidoso Water Operators as we'll get an inside look at the Alto and Grindstone Surface Water Treatment Plants. First we'll take a leisurely 2 mile round trip hike along and behind Alto Lake and follow the Eagle Creek Trail. The song birds and flowers should be out and about and if we're lucky, we might catch a glimpse of some wild horses.

We will also discuss and view two drinking ground water wells along the trail. Back at the trail-head, we will car pool up to the Alto Surface Water Treatment Plant, meet the operators where we will discuss the different treatment methods for ground and surface water since the village uses both types of sources. After the Alto tour, we will break for lunch (location optional). We will car pool to the Grindstone Reservoir and Surface Water Treatment Plant to gain insight on how both treatment plants differ. We'll also see the Grindstone Reservoir Dam and discuss the recreational aspects of both lakes and dam safety requirements. Finally, we'll discuss EPA Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) requirements, laws, sampling & testing, public notice issues and Consumer Confident Reporting (CCR's). We then carpool back and return to Alto Lake, our original starting point to end the tour. Anticipate a full day event.
