Short hike & dinner at Kiwani's cabin(RSVP link in event description)

Details

Saturday July 5 5:45 PM- 8:30 PM Short hike & dinner at Kiwani's cabin in the Sandias

This is something I've done with friends and family for a while now and I thought I would share. Let's all either make a sandwich or buy one (I like banh mi) and bring it and our supplies to the lower parking lot where the TV towers are at the top of the Sandias, one of our beautiful national forests. We will meet at the parking lot at 5:45 pm. Then it's a short hike (about 2 mi, approx 300 ft elev gain) to the Kiwani's cabin where we will eat dinner and watch the day come to an end before we go home in a relaxed state.
Pace will be relaxed, but please remember you will be at 10,000 ft so a level of fitness is recommended for your own safety.
if you'd like to download the trail in advance, the link is provided.
Sunset won't be till 8:24 according to timeanddate.com so those who would like to can linger at the overlook by the parking lot. Just be aware that the moon will only be a waxing crescent, so not much light from the moon.
Dogs are welcome as long as they are NOT leash aggressive or food aggressive and you clear it with the leader in advance.
This will be a "LEAVE NO TRACE" event so everything you bring Must come back with you from the cabin.
