East Gainesville Native Plant Rescue Service Project - Day 2
Details
Volunteer Opportunity: East Gainesville Plant Rescue Service Project
Help us save native plants and protect local biodiversity!
Join us on December 19 and/or 20 for a community effort to rescue and replant hundreds of native plants from a vacant lot slated for development. With your help, these plants will be relocated to a county preserve, ensuring they continue to thrive in our area.
What’s Involved?
- Friday, Dec. 19: Meet at Lincoln Park (924 SE 15th St, Gainesville) at 12pm to help dig up and transport plants.
- Saturday, Dec. 20: Meet at the Gainesville Hawthorne Trailhead Parking lot in Boulware Springs Park at 12pm to replant them in the native flatwoods and sandhills of the Alachua County Sweetwater Preserve (near Boulware Springs, not the wetlands park).
How You Can Help:
- Join us for one or both days—every volunteer makes a difference!
- Bring water, sun protection, snacks, and a shovel if you have one.
- No experience necessary—just a willingness to help!
This is a large-scale project, and the more hands we have, the more plants we can save. Come be part of a meaningful effort to support our local environment!
