Join us for a morning hike through Osceola National Forest, home to Florida's black bears and an incredible diversity of wildlife.
Our easy-to-moderate hike will take no more than two hours, with time to enjoy the forest, look for signs of wildlife, and discover what makes this habitat so important for Florida's black bears.
As we explore, we'll learn what bears need to survive, why protecting their habitat matters, and how development, habitat fragmentation, and hunting threaten their future.
With Florida's black bear hunt underway in December, we'll also discuss how we can oppose the hunt, advocate for science-based wildlife management, and take action to protect Florida's bears.
๐ฅพ What to Bring & Wear: Bring water, sturdy walking shoes, bug spray, and binoculars if you have them. For protection against ticks, wear long pants and socks you can tuck your pant legs into. Blaze orange is also recommended for visibility during hunting season.
Whether you're a seasoned bear advocate or simply love Wild Florida, come discover why these forests - and the bears that call them home - are worth fighting for.
And while you're at it, send a letter to Gov. DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis urging them to stop the bear hunt here: https://bit.ly/StopFLBearHunt
