Details

Details: Now that car week is over I figure maybe it’s safe to travel on Highway 1 again. I haven’t been on this trail in years but it is a favorite. Overall a moderate difficulty but the first two hills are pretty steep, after that it’s a gradual ascent/descent.

From Alltrails; “Step into a landscape rich with history and stunning scenery on the Creamery Meadow, Bluffs, Panorama, and Ridge Trail loop in Andrew Molera State Park. This area was once home to the Esselen and Rumsen Ohlone people and later became part of a historic ranch. Your journey begins by crossing the Big Sur River – a fun splash that leads to the Creamery Meadow Trail.

From there, the adventure climbs! The Panorama and Ridge Trails offer truly spectacular, wide-open views of the rugged coastline that Big Sur is famous for; you'll see why so many artists and writers have been inspired here. As you walk, imagine the early pioneers and the native people who lived in harmony with this land. Along the Bluffs Trail, look for seabirds soaring overhead and keep an eye out for deer or bobcats amongst the coastal scrub. The park is a haven for wildlife, including the incredible California Condor, so you never know what you might spot. Remember to pack a towel for that initial river crossing!”

Bring lunch, water and layers of clothing.

★★★ Note: This is not an official Sierra Club outing. Everyone is welcome to join.

Meet: At the picnic tables across from the entrance

More information: There is a river crossing in the description but they usually have a plank walkway. None of the recent reviews mention it either. There are reports of poison oak. There is a private beach we can lunch at or at the peak, game day decision. We average between 2 and 2.5 MPH but aren't in any hurry. It's not a race, it's not a marathon, it's walking around and looking at things.

There are restrooms and water at the entrance.
