The Impacts of Plastic Pollution and the Power of Community Organizing

More than 460 million metric tons of plastic are produced each year--about 40% designed for single use. Only 9% has ever been effectively recycled. What is plastic doing to our environment, health, climate and global equity? Can community organizing help find a solution?
Our speaker is Emily Young from Stream Teams United. Emily has an extensive academic and work background in the sciences. She joined Stream Teams United as an Advocacy Outreach Coordinator in August 2024 to work on the "Show-Me Less Plastic Project."
