Wednesday 2-4-26 Kayak on Englebright Lake
Details
Rachel plans to paddle Englebright Lake this Wednesday, Feb. 4th and I am inviting SNCKC friends to join me. We will launch from the Narrows ramp. Let’s plan to launch at 11:00. There is a $10.00 parking fee. If you have a lifetime senior card for the national parks you can park for free.
Hwy 20 to Mooney Flat road and then left on Englebright Dam road at the sign for the Narrows Recreation area.
How far we go depends on the group, but lunch at Bucks Beach is likely. Bring lunch and layers of clothing so you have something easy access to put on as the day cools and possibly the afternoon wind picks up.
This is a friends pop-up paddle and not an official SNCKC event.
Stopping by Thirsty Barrel, Penn Valley (used to be Bullmastiff) after our paddle is a distinct possibility.
Englebright Lake is an 815-acre reservoir on the Yuba River, nestled in the Sierra foothills. Constructed in 1941 for the containment of hydraulic gold mining debris, Englebright Dam is a concrete arch structure spanning 1,142 feet across the river gorge and 260 feet from the floor of the gorge. The lake is 9 miles long with a 24-mile shoreline and is beautiful.
Meetup folks are invited too. This is for experienced kayakers only. And not appropriate for SUP or IK or sit-on-tops. I have 1 loaner boat and gear, if someone is experienced but does not have gear.
Weather looks to be very good.
