Visit a Ghost Town (If you dare!)
Details
5 mile walk with 50 ft elevation gain, starting at Alviso Marina County Park, 1195 Hope St, Alviso/San Jose.
Did you know that there was once a thriving town deep in the marsh area near Alviso? All that remains of the town of Drawbridge is one building, and an interesting sign telling the story.
So, why go there?
Fresh air!
Wildlife watching!
Good conversation with your hiking friends!
Mike Murdock is leading this fun hike, starting at the large, free parking lot in Alviso Marina County Park. Meet him near the bathroom and water fountain, then walk 2.5 miles on gravel paths to the "town" and return. Notice he said "gravel path". Wear appropriate shoes. This area is always cooler and more windy than the general weather. If there is no wind where you are, expect it here.
This is NOT an official Sierra Club hike. No RSVP is needed, but they will leave ON TIME.
If you have questions, call Mike at 408/207-2872.
Direction: It should be easy to find by inputting Alviso Marina County Park into your GPS device. But, as an example, from Milpitas: take Hwy 237 west, exit North First Street. Right on North First, right on Gold Street, left on Elizabeth, right on Hope Street.
