Snowshoe to Fern Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park

Let's enjoy some of the early snow! A 7-8 mile RT snowshoe (depending on conditions) to Fern Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. This will be a moderate to strenuous outing with an elevation gain of 1,393 feet in snowy conditions. There is a $25 entry fee into RMNP per vehicle.

Cold weather gear that is equipped to handle snowy conditions. This includes warm clothing, gloves, heavy socks, ideally waterproof boots and snow pants, an outer shell layer, and a warm hat. Sun protection (sunglasses, sunscreen) is encouraged. Please bring plenty of food and water for the duration of the hike. The trip leader will have navigation and first aid equipment.

Snowshoes and other equipment can be rented at REI and several other outfitters. Please post whether you need snowshoes and I'll help see if you can find you a pair.
