RFK and Kingman Island Park hike

Details
The hike begins at the RFK Armory metro stop on the Blue Line. We will walk through the area of the RFK redevelopment site to view the area under consideration for development and discuss the neighborhood context of the site, sustainable development opportunities, and existing features such as the Fields at RFK. As we approach the entrance to Kingman Island Park we will discuss limitations of the site such as the flood plain and designated riparian area and open space. We will cross over the Kingman Island bridge and tour the meadow and wetland restoration sites, as well as hike through various wildlife habitat. We will observe various birds and may see river otters or beaver.
Good idea to bring water. The trail may be muddy so wear suitable shoes or boots.
Sierra Club Potomac Regional Outings appreciates a voluntary $2 donation to support our club expenses.
