Piscataway Park-National Colonial Farm Hike, Accokeek, MD

Details
Let’s take advantage of this beautiful weather by doing a moderately paced hike of about 5-6 miles. The hike will take us through mostly flat woodlands, open fields and marshland boardwalks. The hike features views of the Potomac, a "living history" colonial farm, a Native American ceremonial/burial ground, Accokeek and Piscataway Creeks. We expect to see a fair amount of varied flora and fauna, possibly to include butterflies, ospreys and eagles. Limited to 15 people. We’ll meet 10am at the main parking lot, 3400 Bryan Point Road, Accokeek, MD 20607, which is at the end of a narrow country road. If you’re driving from almost anywhere in the DC metro area, recommend allowing at least an hour travel time. Participants will be required to sign a liability waiver. No pets please. SCPRO requests a $2/person voluntary donation to support our all-volunteer outings program. Bring water and/or non-alcoholic beverage, snacks and a bag lunch. A brimmed hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen lotion are recommended, as well as long pants (to reduce possible exposure to ticks). SCPRO requests a $2/person voluntary donation to support our all-volunteer outings program. FYI, a gift shop is located at the visitor center.
