Wonders of the Woods Natural History Walk

Enjoy a natural history walk in the woods and along a sparkling lake, learning about some of the wonders of our local forest ecology. Engage your senses, focusing on the trees, in a beautiful setting, while in a relaxed, curious, and discovering way.
๐ WHAT WE'LL DO:
We will cover less than 2 miles in less than 2 hours. The well-maintained trails (sometimes narrow) are flat with dirt and leaves, some rocks, and sometimes, mulch. Introductions are at 9:45 and then we start walking at 10:00, with many opportunities to stop, learn, question, and engage.
๐๐ผ Bring lunch if you would like. The guide will stay after the walk ends for anyone who would like to gather and eat their lunches together. Optional suggestions for the event: bring your charged up cell phone for taking photos and using nature apps, a notepad for jotting down ideas, a pad and pencils for quick sketches, binoculars, magnifying glasses, etc.
๐ Your Guide: Adrienne Betancourt is an educator (with a career in adult education and college.)
She completed the Maryland Natural Naturalist 60-hour course and has continued to study natural history, with experience leading programs and hikes for kids, families, and adults.
๐๐ผ MEETING POINT: Meet at 9:45 AM at the Welcome center for a short introduction. We start our walk at 10 AM

๐ป MISCELLANEOUS: Restrooms available next to the Welcome Center.
๐ค๏ธ WEATHER: Steady rain cancels the walk. We will add updates as needed.
๐ PREPARATION: Sturdy comfortable footwear, Hiking poles (optional),
Comfortable layers weather specific, Water!, Snack and lunch if desired, Backpack, Sun protection, Bug Spray, (Additional optional: cell phone to take photos and use nature apps, notepad, sketch pad, pencils, binoculars, magnifying glass, etc.)
