Discover DC Boundary Stones Along the Northeast Line (Maryland)

This is the 4th hike along the original boundary line between the nation’s capital, Virginia, and Maryland DC Boundary Stones: The 40 Markers of 1791. Stones were placed every mile along the boundary survey line---the Virginia stones were set in 1791 and the Maryland stones were set in 1792. The boundary stones are the first federal monuments in the nation’s capital.
The linear hike will be moderately paced between 6 and 8.5 miles. We will meet outside the Silver Spring Metro Station at the corner of Colesville Road and East-West Highway, 9:00 am, Saturday, July 25, 2026. At the end of the hike, we will take public transportation to the nearest metro station. A more detailed description (including final distance) of the hike will be posted by Wednesday, July 22.
Bring water, lunch or snacks, and dress for the weather. Sun protection (brimmed hat, sunglasses, sunscreen) recommended.
All participants must sign a liability waiver.
