Welcome to Signs of Growth, a community dedicated to fostering connection, skill-building, and mentorship within the ASL world. Whether you’re a student of ASL, an interpreter in training, or a seasoned interpreter seeking guidance, this group offers a supportive environment to learn, practice, and grow.
We meet twice a month, and all sessions are completely free:
- ASL Chats (No Voice) – Immerse yourself in ASL-only conversations in a relaxed, voice-off environment. These sessions are ideal for building confidence, improving fluency, and connecting with others who share your passion for ASL.
- ASL Interpreting Mentorship Discussions – Dive into discussions about interpreting techniques, challenges, and advice. Bring your questions and learn from shared experiences in a collaborative setting.
About Me
My name is Michael Bothel, and I’ve been working in the field of deafness for over three decades. I began my career as a certified interpreter in Texas and have since worked in educational, community, and video relay settings. I’ve also taught ASL & Interpreting at the college level, trained leaders in communication and team-building, and led workshops across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico.
My passion is giving back to the community that has shaped me, and I strive to create spaces where ASL learners and interpreters can thrive.
