What we’re about

Silent Book Club is happy hour for introverts. Bring a book, bring a friend, and order a drink. Then settle in for an hour of quiet reading with fellow book lovers. Meetups will consist of approximately 30 minutes of socializing and then one hour of silent reading. Everyone brings their own book. Afterwards we will have another 30 minutes of socializing (or you can keep reading if you'd rather). There's no assigned reading or discussion guides—that's the "silent" part of our book club—but we do like to share book recommendations and meet like-minded readers. While some silent reading parties have a strict No Talking! rule, no one will be shushed or shamed at Silent Book Club. At SBC, you can read in companionable silence with a friend, interlace gossip with recommended authors, and never worry if you haven't finished the book.

Meetups are once a month and will take place at various coffee shops, cafes, or parks around the Joplin area. All readers are welcome—even e-readers!
