Switching to React Native, Relay and GraphQL: Lessons Learned

In our inaugural meetup, we'll discuss the most popular topics covered at the other recent meetups. We'll provide food and drinks!

ZeeMee recently switched from full native apps with a REST API to using React Native, Relay, and GraphQL. We have lessons learned and would love to share them.

Part 1: You'll learn the ins and outs of using React Native for developing iOS applications. We'll check out a sample, open source React Native iOS app ( https://github.com/zeemee/zeemee-demo-ios ), talk about the good and the bad, and be open for questions on what was involved with switching over to React Native (including running React Native along side Swift and Objective-C portions of the app). You'll also get a brief exposure to Relay on iOS.

Part 2: You'll learn about GraphQL and our recent experience converting to GraphQL from POJA (plain old JSON API). We'll discuss basics of GraphQL (queries, mutations, subscriptions, etc), we'll show some queries and mutations using the excellent graphiql, talk about GraphQL's use with Relay and as a stand-alone technology, and will be available for questions about our experiences converting to GraphQL recently.
