Fun with Cyanotype on Silk

Details

Let's have some fun exploring the effects of Cyanotype on silk, with the help of sunlight! This will be an in person workshop.
I will provide the chemicals, plastic ziplock bags to mix the fabric and chemicals in, and I will have some silk with me, but feel free to bring your own silk scarf, or garment, or even silk, cotton, or rayon fabric. If you would prefer to mix your chemicals in a tub, the large disposable food savers work really well. Please keep in mind that the silk doesn't drink so much of the chemical dyes, so we will have more chemicals for more projects if you choose silk.

Bring a piece of cardboard, masonite board or plywood covered with saran wrap, to stretch your fabric/scarf/garment out on, under the sun. Some artists get really good results by putting plexiglass on top of the treated fabric while it is being exposed to the sun, so if you want to try that, bring a piece along to fit your silk/cotton/rayon object. The larger sample above is created by drawing with a permanent marker on tracing paper, and placing that on the treated silk. The lower samples are created by placing natural objects from nature on treated fabric and paper.

Directions to the event will be given upon rsvp for the event. Please message me for more information, or if you have any questions.
