This next evening takes place at Claire’s home by the lakes in Østerbro.
Claire is a senior and Jamaican artist, teacher, and storyteller who has lived in Denmark for over 30 years. She is part of the senior generation and brings decades of experience. She is one of the most creative minds we have been lucky enough to meet with this project, always thinking of what she can invent or create from scratch.

The evening includes a homemade Jamaican meal, Jamaican coffee (and optionally rum), and desserts like coconut drops and biscuits. You’ll eat together while Claire plays Jamaican music and presents stories from her life in Jamaica and Denmark.

At some point during the evening, Claire will move on to guide a small creative crafts activity, a chance to work with your hands, continue the conversation, and be guided by Claire's passion and expertise. The atmosphere is informal, curious, and shaped by own Claire’s life experience and perspective.

We have been building this project in Copenhagen, but Gillian reached out and asked if she could bring it to Aarhus.

So together with Gillian, we are here! this is the first Silvers Dinner in Aarhus, hosted by Gillian.

Born in Guyana and now living in Højbjerg, she brings both her South American roots and 40+ years of experience across continents to the table.
Guyana is known as a melting pot of cultures: Indigenous, Indian, African, Chinese, and European and its food reflects this blend. Gillian grew up cooking dishes across traditions, from curries and noodles to pepper pot, the beloved cassava stew of her Indigenous heritage (which she will make for you!)

At this dinner, she’ll serve a home-cooked Guyanese meal and share stories from her life: moving to Denmark at 19, building a career in teaching and academia, and navigating challenges with resilience and curiosity.

Gillian is a natural storyteller who loves conversation, food, and people. Hosting has always been a part of her life, at one point she even dreamed of opening a café to share Caribbean hospitality.

Hope to see you on board!
