How to Relate With Your Mind: An Introduction to Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Details
Many of us struggle with anxiety, self-doubt, or inner conflict. We try to solve these problems by changing jobs, relationships, or circumstances — but sooner or later, the same patterns return.
What often gets overlooked is that most difficulties don’t come from the outside world, but from not understanding how our mind actually works. Did you ever wonder how it's possible for the mind to be “in conflict with itself”?
In this interactive session, we’ll explore Internal Family Systems (IFS), a powerful approach that sees the mind as an “inner family.” By learning how to relate to your inner parts, you can begin to resolve conflict, reduce anxiety, and gain clarity — often without changing anything in your external life.

What if I already know about IFS?
If you already know about IFS, then this is a great opportunity to get practical experience directly relating with your parts.
What you'll learn
- Why we get triggered, and how to work with it
- How to ease inner conflict and relate to anxiety differently
- Practical tools for healing old emotional wounds and reducing their grip
What to expect
- A clear introduction to how our psychology operates
- Simple, guided individual and partner exercises (no prior experience required)
- Time for group sharing and open discussion in a safe, non-judgmental space
Working in a group setting helps you see that others share the same patterns and challenges. That alone can be deeply relieving, and the shared support makes exploring your mind feel safer and easier.
RSVPs
We advertise this event on Luma and Eventbrite. So bear in mind that there may be more people coming than just show up on Meetup.
If your plans change and you’re not able to come, please update your RSVP. We’ll be waiting for everyone to arrive before starting, so marking ‘yes’ and not showing up delays the event for everyone else.
Do I need any experience?
You don't need any experience or prior knowledge of what we will be exploring, just a curiosity to explore.
How can I find you?
We will meet on Brunnenstrasse at the entrance to Volkspark Humboldthain opposite Gesundbrunnen S-Bahn - see location on map. We will wait at that location from 12:00 - 12:10 then walk into the park to find a nice place to sit down. If you're arriving you can text on the Telegram group. But bear in mind that when we actually start the event I won't be able to check my phone anymore.
Event donations
We don’t have a set price for this event—we want to keep it accessible to everyone. That said, a lot of time and energy goes into preparing it, so any donation you’d like to offer would be warmly appreciated since we have to pay quite a lot to Meetup each year to run the group.
About me
I’ve trained for over eight years with a leading IFS teacher, completing multiple intensive courses. I’ve done extensive personal work (thousands of “parts” sessions) and supported many people 1-to-1. This method has brought lasting positive change in my own life and those I’ve worked with — and I’m excited to share it with you.
