DATE CHANGE: Sunset/Moonrise Paddle at Jordan Lake

Details
THIS PADDLE HAS BEEN POSTPONED FROM SUNDAY TO MONDAY. Summer weather is unpredictable, so please check back here before you head out to event for any weather cancellations!
If you need to cancel after registering, please un-rsvp as soon as possible so others can join us instead, and so organizers don’t wonder if you got lost.
We launch from: Farrington Point non-motorized boat launch site (see map). There is a port-a-jon at motorized launch next door :-)
Paddles wet 6:00pm so please arrive early enough to be ready. We usually have a good turn out so let’s not make the group wait to get out on the lake. Could be back to launch 9:00ish.
Sunset 7:30ish, with the full moon rise an hour later, so we should have enough time to get out to island. It will be a few degrees warmer than Sunday, but probably still too chilly for water canons. Please bring glowing balls or other toys though. Fun boat lights encouraged. Please read lighting *requirements* for night boating below.
We will head left/north-east from the launch, under the bridge and head to the island. No inflatables please, we want you to keep up to make it to the island and paddle back in the dark.
** Note ** a white light and whistle are required by law. A flashlight in a zip lock bag can suffice. But since white lights are blinding to others at night, SK also REQUIRES you to wear or have mounted on your boat a red (best) or soft green light or other soft light that is on at all times after dark. The red light can be as simple as this, clipped to boat or PFD

You can generally buy lights like this at Walmart, REI, etc. This one is great because it serves both purposes:

Please don’t leave the group at night without informing trip organizer! Pick a buddy or three and stay with them, and ask them to wait for you if necessary. Nobody should paddle alone in the dark!
Sorry but no Stand Ups or inflatables.
Wearing a PFD and whistle are required on all SK events. Bring water, sunscreen, bug spray, snacks as desired.
Remember that you always paddle at your own risk. Simply Kayaking is a club for getting old and new friends together and bears no responsibility for your safety or convenience.
More fun, less drama!
