DESCRIPTION:
We haven't been up NE Creek since water levels were down, lake is back up to normal fill of 216' + with recent rain, so maybe we can float above the silt and get back to see the effects of beavers and who knows what else. We'll see some eagles and maybe if any herons have returned to build and roost, so bring your binoculars! If we can't go up creek we'll go under the bridge and go north along the furthest finger towards Stagecoach Rd.

GEAR: The water is approx. 39 degrees, so this cold water paddle calls for Drysuits or wetsuits , I won't want you paddling with me without them. Falling in the water can be life threatening. Also bring a cart if you have one, since there is some distance to cover between the road and water.

WEATHER: right now air predicted to be above 72 with wind 5-10mph, water temp 39-40 degrees, check this event page in the morning before heading out, since the forecast can change, a strong winds might lead to a change in plans.

DIRECTIONS:
From Route 64, it's 6.7 miles north on Route 751 or approx. 5 miles going south from I-40.

PARKING:
On the map, there is an official parking area clearly marked as "Jordan Lake Hunting Access Parking Lot." On the other side of the road (where the trail is) you can unload your kayaks at the small gravel pull-out, then either stay there or move your car to the parking lot.

ARRIVAL:
Please arrive by at least 11:00 am to be in the water by 11:30 am.

LAUNCHING:
There will be a short portage on a marked trail. It will probably be a little muddy, so wear appropriate shoes/ booties. We typically help each other carry, especially because carts don't always work (depending on the condition of the trail). I've also just dragged my boat in the past, since there are usually a lot of pine needles on the ground.

DISTANCE:
Hope to cover at least 4-5 miles round trip, as we cross the lake and then find our way up North East Creek. If the water is too low, we'll just go in the other direction and explore along the lake shore. At times we have had to scrape over low beaver dams in this area. Plastic Boats Best!

MANDATORY:
You must wear cold water paddle clothes, PFD, and carry a signaling device (whistle / horn) and have a spare set of warm clothes in dry sack in case you fall in.

RECOMMENDED:
Water, a hat, sunglasses, lunch/snacks, layer up for wind and cold water, binoculars
