Sunset hike at Penwood State Park

Let’s enjoy a sunset hike at Penwood State Park in Simsbury on Thursday evening, October 16, beginning at 5:15 PM. We’ll begin our 3.0 mile journey with a 1.5 mile hike utilizing the yellow trail and will ride the ridge till we reach the lookout with a fantastic western view of the sky, where we can watch the sunset.
After departing the lookout, we will follow the yellow blaze trail taking advantage of the remaining daylight. Once the sun has set we will walk out of Penwood State Park utilizing the remnants of the paved road.
There will be two moderate climbs during the course of the hike. Please assess your ability to keep pace with the group. Please bring plenty of water, snacks, or a light lunch. Please bring a headlamp or flashlight as it will likely be dark as were walking out of the park.
This is an adult only hike so no individuals under the age of 18.
No dogs.
Please arrive by 5:00 PM as the hike will begin at 5:15 sharp.
