McLean Game refuge Granby CT
Details
Now that Old Man Winter has finally loosened his grip let’s enjoy a late winter's hike this Saturday at McLean Game Refuge in Granby. The hike will begin in the parking lot off of route 202/10 in Granby, CT.
We will take the Brook Road Trail up to Trout Pond. From there, we will continue on the Brook Road Trail for 1.5 miles up to Spring Pond. We can take a short break at Spring Pond to admire the scenery and enjoy a light snack. After the break we will return to the parking lot the same way we hiked in.
All in all we are looking at a 4 mile hike. This will be an all levels hike and it will be done at a walking pace. Since there is likely to be snow on the ground, especially in the shaded areas, micro spikes would be advisable.
Please be prepared to hike 4 miles. Please bring adequate hiking gear for a winter hike, with plenty of fluids, and a light snack. The preliminary weather forecast looks favorable with mostly cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid-40’s.
No dogs or individuals under the age of 18.
