Let’s enjoy an early summer 5 mile hike along the Lighthouse and Jessie Gerard Trail’s at Peoples Forest State Park. The hike will begin with a steep and steady climb. We’ll take breaks to enjoy the views during our ascent. Once we reach this summit, there will be two lookouts with fantastic views of the Farmington river where we can enjoy the scenery. This is not a beginners hike, so please assess your ability to complete a 5 mile hike.
After we reach the summit we will hike the ridge. The trails have historical markers along the way. There will also be a boardwalk through a broad marsh area, which offers a unique perspective of the biodiversity.
Please pack plenty of water or sports drinks, a light lunch or snacks, bug spray as we will be going through some swampy areas. Please ensure you have all the proper hiking gear and any equipment needed for a 5 mile hike.
I drive a bright orange Nissan rogue and I will be arriving early. Once you arrive, please check in with me so we can get an accurate headcount before we begin the hike.
Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. 860-655-6007.
I included a PDF link of the trail map. This will also give you a good perspective as to where the trailhead begins.

The closest GPS address would be 126 East River Road Barkhamstead. The trailhead is actually located a mile or so down the road from this address. I included a Google maps link below as the Meetup site GPS is not reliable.
