Juhannus Picnic on Pihlajasaari

Details
Pihlajasaari is a traditional place to spend the midsummer's eve for those who aren't leaving Helsinki for a cabin in the countryside. Located a mere 10-minute ferry ride away from the dock, the island hosts cafés, restaurants, beaches and a camping ground for those looking to stay overnight. Weather-permitting, a traditional juhannus bonfire (juhannuskokko) is lit at 9PM before the last ferry departs back to mainland at 11PM. For more information in Finnish, see here:

To take the ferry together with the group, let's get together at 1.45PM at the dock next to Ruoholahti metro station. The boat departs at 2PM. If you want to arrive later (or take the ferry from Merisatama), I'll post the coordinates for the group once we settle down on the island. There's no grocery store on the island, so make sure to bring your own food and drinks. If you feel up for a warm meal, there are three public open-air kitchen areas on the island and the restaurant stays open until 10.30PM.
If you've never been to a Sincha event before, here's what you can expect:
- Hearty sense of humor is at the core of what we do
- Quality of conversation over quantity
- Quirks and differences are celebrated, not shunned
NOTE: Please keep your RSVP updated. To make sure that everyone gets a chance to participate, if you can't make it, please update your RSVP to not attending at least a couple of hours before the event. Otherwise, I'll write a disgruntled letter to Santa Claus and you might end up on the naughty list for Christmas.
