Singapore Scrum Patterns meetup #21 - Contracting in team coaching

Details

Having an agreement on what is going to be your coaching service is obviously a good idea. In coaching it's called contracting. It goes beyond legal formalities and, at times, it's something that you wouldn't include in a legal document.

Experience shows that Scrum and Agile coaches starting their coaching engagements either omit the contracting altogether or gloss over it creating circumstances for emerging issues. Lack of clarity around the role of the coach, outcomes like 'just make the team be better at Scrum or become Agile', a limited mandate for change and many more - all these make the coach's life a living hell.

How to set up agreements avoiding common pitfalls? What do we need to discuss to set up coaching for success? What does the contracting process look like?

In this meetup, we are going to discuss challenges and their remediation in contracting for team coaching. We will explore how we can think about and better practice multi-stakeholder contracting that the coaching work is carried out in partnership between the coach and coachee and focussed on the needs of the individual and all the many systems they are nested within, and all the many stakeholders.

Important! You will need a computer/laptop to participate effectively as we use Miro collaboration software to work together.
