The weather is looking promising let's make the most of it, who fancies a day out of London to Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight, via a 10 minute hovercraft to Ryde.

For many people Portsmouth is a stopping off point on the way to other more exciting locations. But it’s a fascinating place in its own right.

It is the only UK city on an island and is bounded by water on all sides. Once a boggy marsh prone to flooding, the vast natural harbour attracted first the Romans then the Royal Navy.

Discover how the dockyard, once said to be the largest industrial installation in the world, was transformed into a century shopping centre and how a renewed respect for the Portsmouth’s heritage and history is reinventing its identity.

After exploring Portsmouth we board a hovercraft a thrilling experience, an adrenaline-filled day on the Isle of Wight. Sit back, relax, and enjoy your flight on the World's only commercial passenger hovercraft service.

When the hovercraft reaches the island, we will land in a prime sea front position along Ryde's beautiful and inviting beaches. The fastest way to cross the Solent between Southsea in Portsmouth and Ryde on the Isle of Wight in just 10 minutes. Hop off and enjoy what Ryde and the Isle of Wight has to offer, including beautiful sandy beaches, boutique shops, bars and restaurants, and travel links to elsewhere across the island, may not have time to enjoy Ryde as need to catch a bus to the Needles.

On arrival in the Isle of Wight why not join me on a scenic bus which stops and passes through Seaview, Bembridge, Sandown, Shanklin the bus will collect passengers, and then travels on to The Needles or you can get off along the way and hop on to your desired location. From Ryde to The Needles the journey is nearly 2 hrs.

The Needles Landmark Attraction is a world-famous attraction located on the Isle of Wight, one of the most iconic sights and a unique part of Britain1. It offers a range of attractions, including, retail outlets, cafés, and restaurants1. Some of the attractions include the spectacular chairlift ride that takes you on a journey past the colored sands cliffs to the beach. Chairlift
Who will join me, always a firm favourite, the iconic Needles Chairlift is the best way to see the Isle of Wight’s most famous landmark.

A delightful trip from the top of the Alum Bay cliffs down to the beach below and experience spectacular views of the picturesque Needles Rocks and Lighthouse, as well as the multi-coloured sand cliffs of Alum Bay and the stunning turquoise waters beyond. Enjoy a boat trip to see the Needles Rocks up close.

Shanklin Chine
If we have time we can visit Shanklin Chine, Carved by Mother Nature over thousands of years, the Island’s oldest visitor attraction that’s been drawing visitors for over 200 years with its natural beauty a haven for wildlife. The steep sides and flowing water provide a mini sanctuary for mammals, birds and insects alike. MEETING POINT

We will meet inside Clapham Junction Train station at 7.45 am outside Marks and Spencer. We will leave the meeting point at 8am for the 08:07 am train.

Please arrive on time, we will leave promptly and won't be able to wait for any late arrivals, please leave home in good time.

Planned arrival time back into London will be around 10.30pm (we have a group train ticket and you are committed for the day until then).
